ZAMBEZI CLASSIC – COMPETITION RULESThe “Zambezi Classic” is a species tournament that is structured in such a way to challenge the skills of the angler. The competition shall include 8 species of fish (listed below) with a maximum of 10 fish per species being allowed for weigh in over the competition. Fish being weighed in that are in excess of the number allowed or below the minimum allowed weight shall be penalized 10 points per fish/Kg. Eligible fish, together with their weight and point structure are listed below:
NO VUNDU OR BARBEL SPECIES WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE WEIGH BAY. PLEASE RELEASE ALL OF THESE FISH BACK INTO THE WATER. Points” per species per day” shall be awarded (plus weight if applicable) as follows: 1st species 10 points 5th species 15 points 2nd species 11 points 6th species 16 points 3rd species 12 points 7th species 18 points 4th species 14 points 8th species 20 points 1) All species of Bream shall be fall under an umbrella category as “Bream”. This also applies to all species of Squeaker. 2) Underweight fish shall attract 10 penalty points. A check scale will be available at the weigh in. 3) A bonus of 20 points shall be awarded if the quota of 10 fish per species is fulfilled. 4) Start time will be 07:00 hrs and weigh in closes at 16:00 hrs on day one and two. Day three start time shall be at 07:00 hrs and weigh in shall close at 12:00 hrs. Lateness for weigh will result in that days catch being forfeited. If a team is unable to make weigh in on time they may allow another team to take their catch to weigh in on their behalf. 5) Only the official clock shall be recognized for timekeeping. 6) Maximum of 4 anglers per team. There is no limit to the number of rods an angler wishes to use at once. 7) There shall be no limit on line class. 8) All anglers must have valid angling permits . All boats must hold valid registration and the Skipper must hold a certificate of competence. 9) Fishing boundaries will be from the Chirundu bridge to the eastern tip of the last island below the Nyakasanga river, before Kayila Camp, on the Zambezi and up the Kafue river no further than 10 km upstream from Gwabi Lodge. 10) Anglers, or boats in distress, must be attended to by the nearest boat, failure to do so may result in disqualification from the entire competition by offenders. 11) No two boats shall come alongside one another, except in the case of an emergency. 12) The interpretation of these rules is at the discretion of the organizers. Failure to comply with any of the competition rules may result in disqualification. The decision of the organizers on any matter shall be final. 13) Juniors shall be persons of the age of 16 or below. 14) Captains meeting shall take place at 19:30 on evening preceding the first competition day in the campsite, Gwabi Lodge. 15) Purchasing of fish either for bait or any other reason is strictly forbidden. Offenders will be disqualified from the entire competition. 16) All fees paid for or at this competition are non-refundable. 17) All team members must complete and sign the indemnity form, failure to do this shall nullify that teams entry. 18) It is advised that Life jackets be worn by all competitors while the vessel is under power (i.e. engine running) on the water. 19) Drunk and disorderly behavior, fighting, or substance abuse shall result in disqualification of offenders. 20) ZSFA general rules, regulations and code of conduct apply to this competition. 21) No fuel may be stored in the campsite (regardless of whether in vehicles or not). There shall be a designated fuel storage depot where all fuel must be stored. 22) There shall be a designated area to park trailers, no trailers are allowed in the campsite. As this competition is being held on private property, you are requested to respect the privacy of the owners. Please do not litter the camp area, surrounding bush or river. Neither the competition organizers, nor the owners of Gwabi Lodge, Lusaka South Country Club (LSCC), LSCC committee will bear responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or death caused to any persons or effects either before, during or after the competition. |
