Membership Fees and Licenses Members of the Executive recently held a successful meeting with members of the Fisheries Dept (Acting Chief Fisheries Officer, Deputy Fisheries Officer and Head of Research - Fisheries). The basic out come of the meeting is précised below; The Fisheries Department has sanctioned the Z.S.F.A. as the official recognised Authority, under the National Sports Council, as the governing body of all issues pertaining to Sport Fishing. As the governing body, Z.S.F.A. is responsible for the activities, involving sport fishing, and events sanctioned by the association. ZSFA is obliged, by Law, to make an annual payment to the Fisheries Dept of K2,484,000.00 . This levy covers the cost of all anglers who participate in a ZSFA sanctioned competition. The ZSFA calendar for 2008 has been lodged with the Fisheries dept so that they are aware of the dates and venues of each event. It is the wish of ZSFA and the relevant Government authorities that we work hand in hand on issues of sport fishing in order to grow and protect the sport. The fisheries were able to clarify several points that were put to them and as such we can advise you of these: The last time that the fishing license fees were reviewed was in 1997 (10 years ago), every one must accept that the fees needed to be increased and we are not to expect an increase for another 10 years. The licence does cover "All lakes and Rivers", not per area as was previously assumed. Only fully affiliated Competition Organisers of Z.S.F.A. sanctioned events will be exempt of the K2,484,000.00 (Competition Organiser Fee) and the K270,000.00 (individual participant) fee per competitor per event. Non affiliated competitions will attract the K270,000 per participant levy as well as the K2,484,000 organiser fee. The fisheries Dept are working on having a representative, from that area, to attend competition so that they can issue licenses to competitors thus alleviating the problem of purchasing from Chilanga. The Fisheries Dept wish to involve ZSFA in discussions with ZAWA, which is semi-autonomous, to look into the cost of angling in our National Parks. The ZAWA charges to sport fisherman, we feel, should be looked into as this affects 3 of the 6 competitions we host (National, Lufupa and Ithezi Thezi) For an event to take place, the organisers will be required to ensure that the Z.S.F.A. entrance fee (K50,000.00) is collected and that each participant is a paid up member of the Association. Proof of membership must be produced or purchased at the event through the competition organisers. The increase in ZSFA competition fees is to cover the added costs to the association, such as to the Fisheries Dept, and the development of the association whom in turn will pass on such in the form which benefits the association's members. The membership fee for ZSFA is as below: a) Club - K200,000.00 per annum b) Corporate - K300,000.00 per annum c) Adults (Husband and Wife) - K100,000.00 per annum d) Adults (Single) - K 80,000.00 per annum e) Children (16 and under) - K 20,000.00 per annum Fisheries Department Angling Licences: Zambians / Residents - K300,000.00 per annum – All rivers and lakes Zambians / Residents - K 50,400.00 per month – All rivers and lakes Zambians / Residents (17 and under) - K150,000.00 per annum – All rivers and lakes Zambians / Residents (17 and under) - K 25,000.00 per month - All rivers and lakes Note: Regarding the fees in general, it is not necessary to purchase licences per annum as the angling licence can be purchased as and when required. Information will be circulated shortly of the various locations where licences can be purchased other than travelling to Chilanga. The Z.S.F.A. competition entrance fee, per participant has been increased from K20,000.00 to K50,000.00 as the association requires funding to develop.
